Can anyone be a mystic?
Caroline Myss, author of "Entering The Castle" writes so beautifully, "Mystics without monasteries come from every walk of life, from every spiritual tradition, and from no spiritual tradition. In fact, having a religious background thick with awe and icons was never essential. Contemporary mystics cannot be typecast and can look like anyone, from anywhere - from an organic farmer, to a politician, to a soldier, to a couple, to new parents, to a retired postal worker. Some people who ended up the most fervent mystics started out as near agnostics and even street people, such as St. Augustine, once a notorious womanizer." Carolyn Myss continues to write, "Even though people are called out of the blue to be mystics, it is possible to invite the experience of mysticism into your life and actively pursue a deeper experience of God."
